I recently attended a workshop that said that sometimes the sclerosis (the damage done to the cell or nerve is so small that it doesn't show up on the MRI. I would start treatment because it would keep the MS from progressing. Contact the National Society of Multiple Sclerosis for more information. I too discovered I had MS because of optic neuritus. My doctor said that according to my history, I probably had it since I was 17 years old. It was confirmed when I was 45 years old. Heat usually makes my vision go bad; also extreme stress. It is because your immune system is weak already. Hope this helps.: I wrote to this board once before - I just finished a course of Solumedrol therapy and a steroid taper for optic neuritis. It has been two weeks, and although my vision initially returned, now it is worse than ever - fading in and out with lots of floaters and flashes of light. I have had two clear contrast MRI's and a negative spinal tap. I know my neuro gave me a lower dose of Solumedrol this time because I didn't tolerate it well, but it apparently didn't work. Is there another treatment for this?? Will it keep coming back? And, does anyone think that I should still be worried about MS, or does it seem unlikely? I'm at a loss - I have missed so much work and been in the hospital so much - and it seems to be doing no good. I'm starting to feel like I'm going nuts, because the doctors cannot figure out what is causing this! any feedback would be sincerely appreciated - thanks!
