: I have had considerable upper back pain under the shoulder blades for the past six months. At times, the pain is a burning, stabbing pain between the shoulder blades. I've gone for regular tests,E.K.G. MRI, ultra-sound, bone scan, and nothing was noted.Pain seems to increase as the day goes on. I'm beginning to wonder if it might be referred pain from another area. Anyone experience similar symptoms? Could it be gastrointestinal? Doctors tell me not to worry but pain has drained me and is an everyday c
ompanion I can do without. Suggestions?
Yes- See a physiatrist(not psychiatrist) Mine is in a pain management practice. For years I had mine dx'd as fibromyalgia. But it got so bad and regular meds and physical therapy wasn't working. Went to pain management dr. and he dx'd as myofascial pain syndrome. Yes, it does refer pain. the physical therapy is different and more intense. However, good progess with that and meds. usually if you have something like this your sleep is not right either. Meds, help that. E mail me if you like . hope this info helps. Bonny
