Myositis is a rather rare autoimmune syndrome. Many people claimed to have developed it after Zyederm collagen injections. A study is now going on I believe in the Maryland area, supervised by Dr. Fred Baker. (I believe that is the name.) It has been a while since I read about this study. Myositis is a condition of the muscles where they get so week you can't raise your hands. I had collaagen injections and did get several autoimmune diseases, but I have not been diagnosed with Myositis eventhough I have some muscle weekness and extreme muscle pain. I also developed thyroid disease, interstitial cystitis and fibromyalgia and an arthritis that keeps getting diagnosed differently depending on which doctor I see. Needless to say, I am in alot of pain. I would be very interested in anyone that has contacted any autoimmune disease from collagen injections to please e-mail me. Some of the arthritises you may get because of collagen injections could be rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, in addi tion to myositis. Although it is rare, perhaps 3 to 5 per thousand people, it can happen. Thank you. Joanne Weiss firstname.lastname@example.org
