I’m 31 and I have had chronic pain 5 years. 7 years ago I had an epidural when I had an emergency c-section with my son. My symptoms started about 2 years later. First it was just a little "pinch" feeling in my upper right arm, very sharp. After a while, it then went into my Right hand and over to my left arm. The pain was weird though. Sometimes it would ache but mostly just when I moved my arms or tried to grab something with my hand.
By now it’s all over my body, constant muscle aches and pain. It seems to be worse if I happen to get good nights sleep. Weird but when I don’t sleep well I don’t hurt as much. Also have a strange kind of numbness/pain on my scalp.
I’ve been to many doctors: countless regular M.D’s, Rheumatologist, and Neurologists. I’ve had MRI’s, a bone scan, nerve tests, x-rays, and about a million blood tests. Every test so far has been clear. It’s very frustrating! I’ve been put on vicodin, prednisone, celebrex, transidone, motrin, prozac (never took one of them), elavil, and more that I can’t remember. For at least 5 months I haven’t taken anything except motrin (which only takes the edge off).
I’m now seeing a wonderful acupuncturist. My pain is still very much there, it never really has gotten better. I’m not sure how my treatments are going yet. She told me that being in pain so long might take a while to get out. We’ll see.
Being a single parent with chronic pain is very difficult. I would love to correspond with someone; maybe we could figure this out!! mneal@cccd.edu
Regards,
Michelle
