I'll try to make this as short as possible but I was injured on Oct 20th 1998 while carrying a computer. The original injury was a pertruding disk herniation at L5 S1 which was compressing the sciatic nerve on my left side. I attended Therapy for months receiving no relief. My workers comp doctor did not recommend surgery but because I was getting progressively worse I asked for a second opinion after he released me which they denied. I sought a second opinion on my own and paid for it and was given the advice to have surgery. Upon approaching the workers comp doctor and insurance company again with the second opinion they approved the surgery. Because I was so out done by the Workers Comp's Doctor;s (WC) dis-honesty initially I requested they send me to a different doctor for my surgery which they did. I had a Micro discectomy on L5 S1 and initially got better but then took a turn for the worse. I have had numbness since the day of the surgery but that progressed into severe leg, hip and back pain as was before surgery. I'm having trouble just living from day to day, can't push heavy doors open, its hard to lift a milk jug, can't mop, only sleep at night half the time due to pain at night, my job requires I sit all day, but I can't sit for long, can't walk more than one block without beginning to limp because of knee pain. The doctor sent me for an EMG test which showed radiculopathy. I have attach a copy of BOTH my MRI and EMG reports if you have time to review them and give me your opinion I'd greatly appreciate it. The doctor has just started me on the medication called:
NEURONTIN 300 MG CAPSULES (3 TIMES A DAY) he says this is to manage the pain but what is it doing for me long-term? This is a anti-depressant drug and makes me feel like a Zombie. He is ready to release me and I need someone's honest opinion on what they think my disability is and if I should let them release me or not.
