I have terrible balance too. I have given up on high narrow high heels and opted for lower fatter ones. I have trouble in the dark too. It is somewhat comforting to know you aren't the only one suffering from these disabilities. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed because no one I know has a clue to what I'm going through. They see hands and feet that look fine. They have no idea you can't feel much. So far I have no pain and am not on any drugs except Immuran occasionally when my immune system attacks my liver and causes my hepatitis to flare-up. I've been to the Mayo Clinic and they are unable to determine what caused my neuropathy and inform me they seldom find causes for this condition. Hope you have better luck.
