: I have had neuropathy in both feet since 9/99. Nerve Conduction Studies didn't show much. Neurologist has tried Neurontin (made me feel "weird"), Amitriptylene, and now Tegretol. They seem to make my pain tolerable, but don' t get me back to totally functional. I finally got an MRI done and it showed a herniated disk at L5/S1. Neurosurgeon doesn't feel this is related to my feet. Does anybody have any suggestions? I have two small children and would like to be able to do more with them. Appreciate any comments you may have.
You are very lucky not to end up with back surgery. Some folks with PN do & it never seems to make things better. Overall try to stay as healthy as you can be in all regards. This includes: no smoking, little or no use of alcohol & reasonable sleep & rest. With PN you can't burn the candle at both ends!
