leg muscles becomming weaker due to diabetic neuropathy

i have had diabetes for about 27 years,and i am developing a bad case of polyneuropathy which is preventing me from walking properly.i find there is no
energy in my legs for days at a time.there is no pain
but there is no strength in my legs.has anybody come across
this sort of a problem or have you heard of it?.any information would be greatfully appreciated.
