Can the first symptoms of hereditary neuropathy be brought on by an injury (this was a fall with a minor back and ankle injury)? My son was diagnosed with HN, he has muscle atrophy in his calf, dropped foot, muscle weakness starting in other leg and now one hand. All of this started in 1996 after a fall at work where a heavy load fell on him from above. He was up on a scaffold at the time and had about 10 ft. to fall after the 1500 lb load of ceiling tiles fell on his back. We find this neurologist diagnosis hard to believe in light of the accident. What do you think?
