Hi I have been on lipoic acid for 5 months now I just take a 60 mg capsule everytime I eat. It has helped clear up my skin a little and i stopped getting recurring vaginal infections. I am on nortryptline for a spinal cord injury that I suffered. I haven't had a side effect from the lipoic acid, my doctor said it was safe but my pharmicist said that I should get off of it immediately b/c it might shift electrolyte levels......anyone know anything about this? -amr10023@aol.com -angela : : Hi CJ, : : Could you please tell me the dose you are taking. An Endrocrinology Dr. at a teaching hospital told me that they freguently use it for Neuropathy but she didn't tell me the dose. My sister wants to try it but she heard that high doses can raise your sugar level. Thanks,---Harry : I'm taking a 100 mg. capsule 3 times a day. It was prescribed to me by my medical doctor. My roommate now takes it and a fellow-employee of hers has started taking it for diabetic neuropathy. (He checked with his medical doctor first.) Hope it helps.
