I have PN which developed very slowly over the past 4 - 5 years. An R.N. told me that doctors know very little about neuropathies in general and that most treatment is more or less "experimental", especially in cases where no apparent cause can be found. The neurontin,pain, med.and elavil give me very little relief most of the time and sometimes NO relief at all. I read in one article that elavil can even contribute to the cause of PN. ????? In 1986 I had cervical surgery to fuse C 5&6 and I'm wondering if there could possibly be a connection. Before the surgery I had three "nerve block" injections and I read in another article that PN might be caused from injections. ????? So much undocumented information ----- one doesn't know what to believe. I do know that I'm about ready to try ANYTHING to get relief !!!
