I had great pain in both feet for over three years. Even though I told each Dr. I saw about this, no one seemed interested and I never even got as much as an xray taken out of them. Finally, I told a new Internist about this and an xray was taken that very day. I was found to have a large heel spur on the right heel. He sent me to a Podiatrist. This man was VERY sympathetic and compassionate - I have multiple problems. He said removing the spur now would only cause more problems as I have muscle damage from Fibromyalgia. After a few more months of worsening pain, I sought out another Podiatrist. He round that I had MULTIPLE breaks in both feet and extensive arthritis damage in both ankles, and a cyst in the left heel!!! I have spent nearly five months now either in casts, boot -casts, in a wheelchair with leg extentions, walkers, etc. I was also diagnosed with small fiber Peripheral Neuropathy just before all this foot damage was found and began taking the drug Neurontin. Sadly, after all the months of healing the breaks in my feet, my foot pain is NO better than the day that we started this long process of healing! I will never be able to go to the mall again, go anywhere that requires a lot of walking, or be able to grocery shop without the aide of the motorized carts. I can't help but think I have seen no improvement due to the many years I continued to walk on 2 broken feet, as Dr's gave me no choice but to do so. PLEASE see a *good* Podiatrist ASAP!!! If I had done so from the onset of foot pain, I might not be in the shape I am now in! Even though your foot pain could be the result of your Neuropathy, you won't know for sure without complete examination of your feet! Good luck!
