: Does anyone have anklosing spondelitis and ulcerative colitis. I am a lady of 52 and have been fighting
: this for 40 some years. And I can't take much in the way of medicine that helps the one because of the
: damage to the other part of the disease. I was 5 foot 7 when I was 17 and now I am 5 foot 2. I have much
: pain in my neck and shoulders. I have had carper tunnel surgury on both hands and a shoulder operated
: on.and I broke my lower leg falling on the ice last year. I would like to know how to treat this befor it causes
: me another health problem. I am menapausal but can't take the hormones.
I am sorry to hear about all your problems. As you may know bones are living tissures and there are at least 20 different nutrients that are necessary for good bone health.Getting all these in your system, with your other problems, will be a challenge to say the least!!Many people think calcium is the problem but that is by far not the entire story. There are some common foods that we eat that prevent calcium aborption such as tomatoes, citus fruit, spinach and even nuts like almonds and cashews. It is known that even lack of excercise causes bone mass loss. It is not an easy problem to solve because we are all different with special needs as determined by our particular situation.
There are some good books available such as: " The Osteoporosis Solution ", "Osteoporosis Cure:Reversing the Crrippling Effect With New Treatment" and " Preventing and Reversing Osteoporosis: Every Woman's Essential Guide" by Alan Gaby. You can get these books from most health foods stores, Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com, etc.
AS you know there are no majic bullets for this terrible problem.
God Bless You---Harry
