A really good book on female hormones and osteoporosis is What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause by John Lee. He discusses how progesterone re-mineralizes bone. In the studies that were done that purportedly showed that estrogen prevented osteo, they used progesterone to prevent uterine cancer from the estrogen.
: I am 38 years old. I have walked hunched over for many years but lately it has gotten worse. I have other symptons that are, I think, related to Estrogen loss. Does estrogen have anything to do with this disease? What do I say to the doctor if I want a bone density test?
