: I am newly diagnosed and fairly young to have this disease. I have malabsorption disorder which is probably the cause. My problem was discovered when I fell, rather gently and my wrist shattered. Healing was slow (I am still in a splint and this happened July 4th. Please let me know about reversal. I have found so much about prevention-- too late-- and nothing about "cure." I feel rather frightened and would like to know what my options are. Thank you Hi Lynda; Don't be frightened. I am 35 in June and have been diagnosed, it was a bit of a shock but looking on the positive side we know early enough to do something to prevent it getting worse. I have researched this quite a lot on the internet and apparently it is possible to build up bone density again. I am starting on Didrocal next week and then i have 3 months on it. A second bone density test should then show that the density is climbing. My bone density scan said mine was 78% and i feel pretty positive that i can get it right back up to the 90's. Just watch and see, smiles!!!! Chin up!... Jewel.
