: I'm 73 years young and need at least 1600 mgs cal, with Vit D, magnesium. Most caps only have 400mgs and no D anyone know brand to seek. I take so many pills now don't need to take 4 more and still be short 100mgs.????lulu
Not to promote a product but......Caltrate 600 Plus (either in chewables or pill form) contains:600 mgs. calcium;200mgs. D; 40mgs. Magnesium;7.5 mg. Zinc; 1 mg. copper;1.8 mg. Manganese; 250 mcg. Boron. You could take 2 of these caplets/chewables & drink an 8 oz glass of milk; or combine milk w/yogart;cheese & you have your daily supply. I find the chewables are much easier to take. Another brand, which I might add is better absorbed, would be Citracal citrate. Citrate is more absorable than carbonate which Caltrate is. However, I feel if I'm getting Calcium in any form, that's about as good as it's going to get for me. Citracal has no magnesium, just calcium & Vit. D. 2 caplets give 630 calcium, 400 IU's Vit. D. So you may want to try the Caltrate 600 Plus. What are you taking now? You don't mention that. Do you have osteo? Keep us posted on your decision of Calcium usage. JMK
