Fosamax dosage

Has anyone taken 40 mg. of Fosamax once a week? If so I am interested in your experience with it. My doctor has recommended that dosage to me but I am a little afraid of it. I could not take 10 mg. due to a couple of episodes of tightening of the chest so my dosage was reduced to 5 mg. per day. My last DEXA scan showed no improvement in my spine and 3% in my right hip. I was told that I have severe osteoporosis in my spine so since there was no improvement there with the 5 mg. the 40 mg. dosage has been recommended. I'm wondering what would happen if 10 mg. daily caused tightening of the chest, what would 40 mg. once a week do to me.
