Two years ago there were just 3 places in the U.S. (Johns Hopkins, U. of VA. and Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis) that were doing vertebroplasty (I was trying to find a place for my mother to have it then). My mother just had another compression fracture a couple of weeks ago, and I was able to find two physicians in her state (OK) who have been trained by the UVA people. To find who might be available in your state, call Dr. Mary Jensen's office in the Radiology Dept. of UVa.(804/924-9719) to see whom she has trained.
My mother's local MD had originally referred her to another one for the vertebroplasty. When I called that person's office to check where he had been trained or by whom, I was told, "Oh, he trained himself." No, thank you! Dr. Mary Jensen is one of the pioneers in this area in the U.S.--so I felt comfortable with someone she had worked with. Good luck!
