: : I've taken the subject spray for 2 years after having side effects with Fosmax. My bone scan after a year showed improvement in hip bone, but not in spine. However, my PCP said spine did not worsen. I have another bone scan due in August, but I'm not waiting. I'm going to try weight lifting. No, I don't want to, but current studies shows that it helps a lot. Walking, dancing and other activities don't seem to do enough. Also take calcium, Vit D and ERT. Good luck.
: : Dear Friends,
: : : : I have much to learn about Osteoporosis even though I've known about it for two years. My PCP never seemed concerned about my condition; however, yesterday I saw a Rheumatologost and is he very concerned. Since I am very sensitive to medication he prescribed Miacalcin Nasal Spray rather than any oral medication. I do take Estrace, and calcium in addition. I had a complete hysterectomy 20 years ago which has been a contributing factor in my bone loss. I was wondering if there are others taking Miacalcin Nasal Spray, and if anyone has had any problems with it. I'm looking forward to learning more about Osteoporosis, and how you folks are living with it. I also have Fibromyalgia.
: : : : Peace to all, Des

: : : I had a bone density test yesterday - the tech says SEVERE osteo - my hips have holes completely through the bone. Recommended Niacalcin Nasal to my PCP to prescribe. Have you had any side effects? What else have they suggested that you do? Please HELP!!!

: I have taken both fosmax and miacalcin, some side effects that I have had with miacalcin is after several months, nose bleeds also headaches, they have me now spray nose with saline first. Fosmax will make me sore after prolonged use, therefore my PCP is trying to rotate me, 6 months fosmax, then switch to miacalcin for 6 months. My scans have improved every year for 3 years ... I also take calcium, vitD,magnesium, estrogen, eat lots of soy products, walk and lift weights. We must do all that we can to fight this, my mother spent 9 long yrs in a nursing home with sever osteo. and bones breaking constantly. Good luck to all! jk
