: I also was unable to take Fosamax due to stomach pain and also chest pain. I tried Miacalcin but began to have emotional and mental problems such as depression and anxiety. My Doctor has prescribed Actonel. Two 5mg tablets one day per week. I don't know as yet if I will have side effects from this dosage. Has anyone else tried Actonel one day per week?I have severe idiopathic osteoporosis and have been taking Actonel for 3 months with no problems at all. I just found out today that my insurance carrier will not cover it anymore. They will only cover Fosamax, didronel and calcitonin, which I have already tried. It looks like I will now have to fight this out. It totally makes no sense at all. Is anyone else having this problem with their insurance carrier?
