: I've been taking my vicodin, flexruil mix for a moth & a half now and ws wondering what other kinds of pain meds there are and there effectiveness(sp). I goto Pain Management Doctor on Fri & want to have some infromation on my options. Thanks!
I have recently hurt my back and was on vicodin for the pain, flexeril for the muscle spasms. There are a lot of other pain releivers on the market. My advise to you is to not stay on the vicodin for very long as it creates physical and mental dependence very quickly. For chronic pain, there are other medications you can take. Ask for a pain management/pain clinic referral. At the pain clinics they treat the whole person, not just the pain. They work on the social, emotional, and financial aspects related to your pain. They include physical therapy, occupational therapy also. Always remember it is always a good idea to get a second opinion.
There are pain medications that work better on certain types of pain than others. Your doctor should know which medication is the best for your condition. Also you need to look into any procedures that can be done to alleviate your pain, if possible. Good luck!
