: Find a better doctor, one that will treat the pain and get to the bottom of the pain source. Peace Y
I agree with Tina. My doc finally refered me to a pain clinic where they informed me that pain which has or could not be removed was 'chronic pain' and should be treated on it's own if necessary. They stated up front that while they could not to remove the cause their purpose was to reduce the pain as well as possible. They have been true to that. On the other hand caution is advised as preportedly some 'pain clinics' attempt to convince you that it does not exist and that it is simply a perception problem on your part. I personally had one proffesional insinuate that I could just think happy thoughts and ignore pain.
A doctor who has not been your advocate in the past and does not see that your chronic pain needs attention may not be the best source of a referral. If you do visit a pain clinic try very hard to make sure that they explain their specific intentions. If they either promise the moon or are not completely open about their practices, then be wary. If what I hear is true about 'pain camps', consider that option only with a list of EXACT DETAILS about every aspect before becomming involved.
