I will be doing a trial morphine pump this month. The doctor told me that he will be putting dilaudid in the pump instead of morphine. I know there are several different types of medicine that can be put in the pump including dilaudid. However, I did not ask the doctor what is dilaudid. The doc said we will play it safe and not use morphine since i was allergic to it when I was taking the oral mscontin, methadone, oxycontin etc etc. Is dilaudid stronger than morphine, same or less potent? Also, why is clonodine put in the pump sometimes? Isn't it a blood pressure medicine? My medicare will not approve clonodine because it is a new drug so I would have to pay out of pocket. I had my list of questions for the doctor, but as you all know there usually are 10 times more questions not answered after visiting a doctor. thanks for any help, maria
