: Dear DR.Whitworth,
: I am heading on my eight yr now in chronic pain.I have spondylolistheses, degenerative disk diseases and scoliosis.I am currently on methadone and have been for approximatly 3 yrs now,and it has worked very well with the ibuprofen and cyclobenzaprine that I have been on since the beginning, but now the side affects of the methadone are out weighing the benifit of it.As far as my surgen goes he has not, and will not perscribe any type of narcotic for me.the only time he did was right before my surgery and right after.Following both my surgeries after I was taken off the demerol and put on percocet I was able to get up and walk a little, although I laid flat for 8 entire months till my second surgery to remove the hardware. My problem is that from the beginning I have had to fight workerscomp even to get a surgery.they have repetedly denied my surgens referal to some type of pain managment.I am 100% disabled and I can not live like this anymore. The insurance company did have these nurses that did nothing for me, and one even took me to a pain Physiciatrist in the hospital that more or less tried to make it like all this pain was in my head to which my surgen was devastated.I see my surgen every six months only to tell me every single time that the pain is from the scarring.Due to all the side affects that I am having my psyciatrist wants me to go to a pain clinic as he can not perscribe any other types of narcotics.I am still not sure if I will be denied, as I do have medicare now,but my question is do you know of any pain treatment docters you could referr me too here in Maryland that will treat me for my chronic pain,as I have had no luck yet with a real pain treatment doctor.I hope you can help.
: Thank you,Robin
Ps: I for got to tell you if it makes a differenc that I have had A spinal fusion with the insertion of pedicle screws, and an exploratory surgery and removal of hardware,to which I wish I had never let them be put in.
