: : I have a rare, chronic, painful skin disease called Hidradenitis Supprativa which causes me to have constant breakouts of boils in my groin . It is not at all unusual for me to have as many as 20 at a time. I have had this problem since puberty, but since I got my tubes tied 3 years ago, the problem has exploded. There are no treatments. There are no cures. I am very educated about my condition and very proactive in my medical care. I also belong to an international support group for this called HIDE.

: : To complicate matters further, I was at a stop light on both 9/10/99 & 1/3/00 when I was rear-ended from behind by vehicles traveling at highway speeds, the last accident being the worst. I now have severe neck and shoulder pain, with numbness on my left arm and hand. A recent MRI shows a herniated disc at C4 & C5. Just had a cervical epidural done 2 days ago. Praying that it will help.

: : I recently had my med doses increased and am currently taking 160 mg. of Oxycontin 3 X day, 3 mg. of Klonipin 3 X day & Oxycodone for breakthrough pain. I also use a TENS unit. Even at these extremely high doses, I continue to have constant pain, though it is usually a bearable level of 3 or 4. I have severe muscle spasms in my neck and shoulder (like having a constant Charlie Horse that won't go away--it is crippling pain).

: : Any suggestions for additional or better treatments or medications will be welcome.

: : I hope everyone is having a pain free day!

: Hi, don't have anything that will help. Welcome to this forum. I also have 24/7 pain, I have to lay flat most of the time because standing or sitting causes my pain to increase rapidly.
: It's a real pain in the a-- isn't it.
: Good luck and God bless
: John

John and anyone else,
I used to have to lie flat too before I got the morphine pump. I could not sit or stand or walk except for 10 to 20 mins and then severe severe pain for 4 hours afterwards. I tried every option for 6 years before the pump. How long have you been 24/7 lying flat? Have you tried most options. Have you considered the pump?
Regarding alternatives to other pain relief options, it sounds like you are in the right support group for your Hidradenitis Supprativa, it sounds like you are in the right support group for this. However, your neck problems might need a different support group. I can't list websites here that could guide you to one, but there are a lot out there especially for necks or "cervies" they like to call themselves. good luck,
maria
