The book on FM by Dr Devin Starlanyl "The Fibromyalgia Advocate" has sample handouts to give to various medical practicianers to explain problems associatied with FM. I think there is one for Dentists. They are also listed at her site.
I find it helpful to take a pain medication and something to relax the muscles before I see my dentist, and he always works in shortr periods and allows me to close my mouth for rest breaks so the muslces don't cramp so badly. icng them afterwards can help too. They will probbaly give you trouble but if you dentist is understanding and you ge soem type of premedication it should go better for you.
: I am hoping someone here can give me a good suggestion. I have FMS and will be having jaw surgery on May 10th. I would like to explain how painful this condition can be, and the the possible need for extra pain meds post-op, since I already have quite a high tolerance for them. I think perhaps an academic article would help. The surgeon knows little about this and last time, gave me two Lortabs, post op (I thought I was going to die). Luckily I do have some medications from my other docs. Please e-mail anytime. Kay
