: Hi,This is Cee. I saw the neurologist today. He also was upset with my internal medicine dr. He said he shouldn't have said that about the syrinx surgery. He said only a neurosurgeon would know if it is appropriate for me. I wonder who said that already!!!He said my muscles are much more spastic and my r side is much weaker. He also wonder what my dr was thinking blaming my abd problems on RSD. He said he wasn't even going to deal with that. He is going to recommend a pain clinic program to start me on methadone or duragesic patches plus valium for the spasms. He said he can only recommend and discuss with my dr after he gets the MRI report. Dr. Whitworth which of these 2 medications work better for central pain. He said the pain will only get worse as time goes on so I don't have to worry about addiction cuz I will always have to be on medication. He said I will get a tolerance to it but the dr can work with that. Thank you so much for answering our questions. You have ALWAYS been right!!! Take care Cee
I have used both for central pain...much depends on whether you have to buy the meds with money out of your own pocket. Duragesic is very very expensive while methadone is one of the least expensive drugs (all classes of drugs) available today.
