I posted a while ago concerning my Mother-in-law's degradation of function seemingly coinciding with her getting an interthecal Medtronic pump. Before she was able to get around on her own power, carry her 2 year old grandson and in spite of some severe back pain (regulated with oral pain meds and a "nuerostimulator" in her back). Now she is all but wheelchair bound and her legs are almost useless. One doctor thought she had A.L.S. but labwork and various tests do not confirm that diagnosis. She has been checked and the pump seems to be placed correctly and is functioning normally. Has anybody had a similar experience?
A friend told me about this board and had said someone else had posted with a similar problem. Anybody recall that individual or the thread? I haven't be able to locate that post.
She has now opted to switch from Morphine to Dilaudid in the pump although it will be a while before it clears the catheter and begins to work. We are all hoping that this will help. Again if anyone recalls anything about similar problems I would sure appreciate any info. Thanks
