You hit on a big problem with the pumps. Since I had my pump implanted, it seems like all the doctors now expect the pump to take care of all my pain. When I tell them that it isn't working, or isn't working well, they tell me that it is probably working better than I realize and that I should just deal with whatever pain I am having. They are very reluctant to give me any oral meds to help with any breakthrough pain. When they do give me something, it is usually too weak to help. I don't think that many doctors are willing to agree that the pump doesn't work well for all people.
Like I said before, I wish I had stuck with oral meds and not had this thing put inside me.
