Hubby had 1st pain mgmt appt today - had MRI in May, saw surgeon Aug. 1, doc said surgery wouldn't help (could worsen situation), went for 2nd opinion, 2nd said same. Diagnosed with DDD, DJD, 4 bulging, 2 herniated, three other suspect of degenerated discs. Went for walk (supposed to help) and went into acute spasm. Shooting/stabbing pains in back and legs, between shoulders. Numbness in legs. Radiating pain in legs. Feels like back is "exposed, and raw" like leaning on a cheese-grater.
Has been taking Oxycontin, Percocet (for breakthru pain), Flexeril, Motrin 800. PM doc changed to Elavil (supposed to help with serotonin uptake to help fight pain?), Duragesic patch, Baclofen (antispasistic?).
Anyone had any experiences with these? Good? Bad? Any relief? Also ordered bone scan...see other post.
