Elavil and drugs in its class can actually help with pain that is burning in character. In addtition, the anti-depressant action is welcome. Most people with chronic pain need and take anti-depressants. Baclofen is very useful for spasm for some people. I've taken it for five years and it causes a clear reduction in spasticity. Again, while baclofen isn't an analgesic, its power to reduce spasm helps with the pain spasm causes. Good luck.
