: to anyone, did anyone have a dorsal column stimulator put in. did you have take a psych exam. and if you had a psych exam and did,t do well how did you turn it around to get the dorsal column stimulator. can anyone give me any suggestions, i didn't have a good psych evualtion. please i need some help here.
Alen, I dont' know about stimulators, but I can't imagine the thought of another surgury after 3 have failed. About the psych exam docs have had me do it 3 times. The MMPI as its called checks for verious things from simple depression to talking with god. I would think you need to know exactly what the test says about you so you can best defend yourself. Depression and suicidal thoughts go hand in hand with chronic pain. I guess its a matter of which came first. I think its also a way for docs to protect themselves. I f surgury fails they say its because of psych problems. It's an easy way out..MY own experience was pretty bad too . I dont know what the MMPI said about me, but my brother commited suicide 1 ywaer after my first failed surg. I made the mistake of telling my doc and thats why I beleive I had to wait 2 more years to have it corrected and had to leave the area to met an Independent Medical Eval. If your present docs are not giving you the info and help you need, Change Docs.. Get outside the loop of doc's that may have a preconceived notion about you. They may think it's in your head and not even look at hard facts provided by diagnostic tests.. God luck and let me Know how the stimulator works if you have it done. David
