For the 1st ??? I am married but since I can't work anymore he has to do it all so he is very tired when he comes home..So I guess you could say ....Sometimes I have help....
The pain meds do not help..Yesterday they changed me from 2x daily to 3x daily...I do see a counsler and he has had me put on Effexor..75 mg then in 2 weeks he will up my dosage..
the pain in my shoulders is constant, stabbing , burning....aching....I thought it my be caused from stress but I have had this pain for about 3 weeks now with no relief at all...Also my hands go numb at times like they are asleep..I wake up in the middle of the night with my hands feeling this way...
I have to go Nov 2 for another MRI...My other fusions were on l4,5 s1....Right above my incession I have alot of pain..It is very tender to the touch but I was told that It was from the surgery and it was only sorness..But recently I have been having the same pain over on the right side...Sharp stinging pain in my right buttock...Like the pain that started it all in the left side...That's why I think another disk may be bad.....
I can't sleep at all..I have so much discomfort that I toss and turn and end up getting back up..Needless to say this is very hard on my marrage...They changed my med to Clonazepam 2 mg..I start taking it tonight...
I use to be on 400 mg of Neurontin but I could not take it...I could take it say at 12:00 and instead of wearing off like most meds do, it kept getting stronger throughout the day ...I had to take it 3x daily..I couldn't take care of my kids at all while taking it.....
Thank you so much for reading my post and helping me out...I hope to learn more about what others do and take to help them..I would not say that I am sucidel.(spelling?) I am too scared..I just wish sometimes that I would just die..But then I think about my kids and what I would miss...Chrissy
: Hi Chrissy-
: I'm so sorry to hear about all that you have had to endure. I have some idea of what it's like to be young and to be in pain. I'm a 21 year old female..I had my first surgery in 7/98 and will be having another this december. I go to a pain mgmt center too..and I take sustained release morphine tabs, morphine sulfate for breakthrough pain, and anti-depressants.
: Geez..I can't imagine what it must be like to be going through what you are while worrying about 5. Do you have anyone helping you out?
: Yes, sometimes reproductive pain can mimick sciatica. It is good that your doctor is investigating this. So, the pain meds you're on right now aren't helping? What other forms of pain management are you doing? Have you thought about seeing a counselor? I do, and it helps.
: What is the pain in your shoulders like? Shooting/stabbing..or more like an aching? Have you tried heat/massage for your shoulders? It could be tension. But, if it is severe and you have tingling or numbness in your fingers or hands, I would discuss it with your doctor and maybe ask for an MRI.
: Yes, if you have a fusion or any back surgery, there is a higher chance, statistically speaking, that you might have disc problems at other levels. This is simply because the shock that was taken up by the fused discs will be displaced to another level..meaning there will be more pressure on the other disc than there was before. I had surgery at l4-5 in 98 and sometime after that I ruptured l3-4..I wasn't in any accident either time..it just happened.
: Anyway, the best advice I can give you is to pursue a more active plan for pain mgmt. Try all kinds of different things..you never know what may work. If your meds aren't working, communicate with your doctor. Nobody should have to endure needless suffering. How well do you sleep at night? If not very well, you may want to ask your doc about a drug called neurontin. It is pretty safe and is mostly used for epileptics...but many doctors use it for pain management.
: Are you able to do any gentle stretching or exercise? Have you ever tried meditation or relaxing techniques?? I know these things may sound stupid..and I was particularly annoyed when one of my old doctors thought these techniques would be enough to manage my pain (yeah..right! I had to go to the ER 4 times in a year because the pain was so bad and she would not give me pain medicine)..but techniques like this may help you to relax and take your mind off of the pain a little bit. I like to turn off the lights and light candles and listen to soft music. It just puts me in a better frame of mind and is a comfort to me when I am in a ton of pain.
: Well Chrissy, I'll be thinking of you and praying that something works to make your pain at least a little more bearable.
: hang-in there!
: every good wish-
