Dani,
I think you would be wise in waiting on the morphine pump. The doctors make a killing on these things, so they are very quick in suggesting them. Your pain doc is right is telling you that it isn't time for that drastic measure. If the oral meds are working, then keep taking them like you are doing.
To my way of thinking, the pumps only advantage is the fact that the medicine is always there. You don't have to worry about forgetting or running out of your meds. I have yet to hear from anyone that has a pump that was able to stop taking any oral meds at all. To me, that defeats the purpose of the pump.

I am having a CT scan and myleogram done next Wednesday. The pump will be taken out shortly after. I also might be having another cervical fusion. That would make 5 in all.
If I were you, I wouldn't be so opposed to having a fusion done. It seemed to me that I always got better results when I had a fusion as opposed to a laminectomy. It does take longer to recuperate from a fusion, but I think your spine is actually stronger after it is done. At least that is the way it was for me.

Yeah, we have all been through hell with our physical problems, but if you read these posts long enough, you will always find people that have it a lot worse than yourself. I just thank God that I can still walk and am reasonably mobile. Some people aren't that lucky.

I wish you all the best and hope everything works out for you. Have faith and keep talking on this board. It will help you a lot and will also help everyone else.

Take care,
John V
