Sorry to hear about all the problems you are having. Welcome to the club.

When I had my first lumbar fusion (l5-s1), I was told that I used to have 28 guys on my team. Now I only had 26 guys. Everytime you have a fusion, you are weakening you spine a little more. It is kind of like dominos. When one falls, you can start a chain reaction. Eventually you have to stop it.

I have had 5 fusions and a couple laminectomys. I think I am going for my final one this month. Fusions might be the answer at first, but as time goes on, you have to look at different ways to treat your pain.

Maybe you should suggest Methadone to your pain doc. I used to take Lorcet#10, Percocet, Percodan, Meperdine, Effexor, Elavil, and so many more that I can't remember. When I was put on Methadone, I finally found some pain relief. It has been the best medicine for pain that I have taken since all this BS started back in 1981. Yes, you will get dependent on it, but just like a diabetic needs his insulin. So what, as long as you can function reasonable normal.

I have tried the patches and all they did was give me a queasy stomach.

My address is deepsea@usa.com. Write to me if you need any more info. I will be glad to try and help.

Take care and good luck,
John V
