: I recently went to the Dr. and he suggested an interthecal pum filled with morphine instead of the mscontn which I was taking orally for the exteme pain I experience due to degenerative disc disease and a back injury received over 25 years ago. I have been on heavy medication for numerous years. I am searching for information to help me make a decision to go with the interthecal pain management pump or not.
Hi M
I have heard several bad things about the pump. I think one of the wisest things you could do is to ask the doctor that might put one in for you for 3 references that have had the pump for three or more years. Call them and ask about the results. I believe some doctors are better than others and if the pump is going to do what you expect, the doctor has to be very good. If he/she gives you the run-around-----forget it or find a doctor with some positive references.
Good luck and God bless
John H
