: I shattered two discs in my neck 17 years ago in a water skiing accident. Since then I've had 4 surgeries to repair my C-spine. I have found relief from time to time but each time I find a combination of meds that works the doctor takes me off for fear of addiction. I now am at my wits end. I have had to change insurance companies and doctors. This new primary care physician says I have degenerative disease and nothing he can do. My leg has gone numb and I have a hard time walking. He won't refer me to a specialist, says there is nothing they can do.
: Help!
Kymm,
I have just completed a Chronic Pain Management Course run here in Victoria, Australia.
As part of the course we were given an Australian Book which a number of members (myself included) found very useful. It is full of ideas and thoughts which may be useful in helping you to handle the pain, it wont do anything to make it go away but it is good for ideas.
The book is Manage Your Pain
by Dr Micheal Nicholas, Dr Allan Molloy, Lois Tonkin and Lee Beeston.
Published by ABC Books
ISBN 0-7333-0883-x
Anyway hope that this might help and always remember there are people who know who you feel.
Regards Wazza
