Hi,
I have been in chronic pain for ten years now and have tried every med and every what I call quack approach to healing pain that there is. What I have learned is that you really have to believe in hypnosis and acupunture etc.. before they will work. And contrary to the belief expressed below, it can be very time consuming as well as expensive.

A contract with a pain physician is only as good as the time you are with that doctor. I have had only 2 pain docs in the last 10 years, and that is only because I moved to a new area. It sounds like you need a more compassionate physician who will not pass judgement. Also, the medicine you should be using is Methadone. It is very effective at very low doses. It is also VERY CHEAP! Especially in comparison to the fentanyl patch. I would ask your doc about Methadone, or find one who will get it to you.

: I know I am begining to sound like a broken record but if your husband has not tried hypnosis for pain control he might want to. You will need to find a hypnotherapist that specializes in this sort of thing though. Some only do the tequiqure for pain control. I like the one better where they do the pain replacement. I know a lady that has a horrible back and had been in pain for 20 years. She is not in no pain and the only symptom she has is tingling in her back that feels a lot like when your hand or leg goes to sleep and then begines to wake up. That tells her it is time to go easy but she never has to suffer. There comes a point in time where there is no point in letting somebody suffer. I don't know where you are located but you might want to check around and see if you can find a hypnotherapist in your area within driving distance. If not it would still be worth your time, money and effort even if you have to fly to see one. But make sure they are willing to do the pain replacement and not just the control The control helps but not as much as the replacement from what I have been able to see. The replacement gives your brain an alternate way of interpreting the pain so its not just turning on the pain control its actually interpretting the pain signal as a tingle instead of agony. your doctor may even know of somebody he can recomend. Hypnosis is approved by the American Medical Association . My son is free from Migraine headaches after 5 years of hell. My mother is not getting around and doing things she has not been able to do in years. They did the pain control on her instead of the replacement. I think she needs to go back and do the other . But that is just my opinion. I do have a friend show did the replacement tequnique and she loves it. Hypnosis does not work as well for some people as it does for others but if you are anywhere near as desperate as I was it will be worth taking the chance. The cost is minimal if you can find a therapist in your area. If you cannot let me know. I will try to help you find one. I can refer you to the doctor we saw and see if he knows of anyone in your area.
