: : : : Bruce, Thanks for the great info. I am going to look into it right away!
: : : Jane, Several people have told me medicare will pay for an electric vehicle. I have never done this, but it would seem a written perscription from your doctor describing a medical need would be a good place to start. Bruce

: : You've written a lot of helpful info for all. Thank you so much!! I'm sure your scooters are better than my mom's and dad's. They have more of an electric wheelchair type (first one was $5,000 and second one $7,500.) I saw my dad forget to set something on his new expensive one and it started to "drive" away as he was attempting to sit down in it. If several people hadn't been there to catch him, he would have had a nasty accident. Your pony type sound much more user friendly. I know they had a prescription first and medicare will reimburse a certain percentage after you send them the bill. You need the money up-front in some situations, so if you have the patience and time, check with your handy dandy medicare people and find out what they'll do.

: Hi Carole & all who inquired about wheel chair and medicare
: After doing alot of paper work and allowing the company that made the chair, and medicare, anxd my doctors to commuicate with each other for over a year trying to make clear why the chairf i was reque sting was one that was allowable under the guidelines of medicare at the time of the request.
: In ny judgment the key to it is making sure the doctor(s) write the request so as to present the case honestly but with a certainty that the patient needs and desrves the chair. So much of the quality and independency i am able to experien ce is due to this chair.
: how are you doing, C arole
: you take care --pete
Pete, that lookd like good advice. It is important to get te vhsir that fits yout needs. The first one I bought was s big sturdy one to use outside on some rough ground I even transport my empty garbage csns back to the house, use it ro plant tomatoes and transport pine straw for mulching plants. It will carry a lot of weight if neceddsry. Bruce
