: : Anyone have experience with Zoloft ?...does it work, side effects, etc.???
: Chaz, I attempted to participate in a local study of Zoloft and Eledepryl (the combination was supposed to slow down the progression of PD). I was miserable on it. I happened to have an appointment with our family doctor a few weeks in to the study and when he asked if any of my meds had changed and I told him about the study, he whipped out a letter that he had received through channels, that warned of major effects of combining the two which had resulted in some deaths. I immediately got out of that study.
: So have your doctors check it out if you are taking other meds, especially Mao Inhibitors.
Chaz,
I have been on Zoloft & Eldepryl for over a year without any problems & after talking with three different doctors about it. I started out on 50 mg. and it was increased, until now I take 150 mg. every A.M. The only thing I've noticed is that it never really seem to do any good. I guess it's at least partly because I stay so depressed over all my health problems. I never thought P.D. symptoms alone would look good.(But, that's another ball game.)
Talk with your doctors & do what they advise & you are comfortable with. You have to look at the whole picture & what other meds you're on.
I'm also on Sinemet & Sinemet CR & Comtan & Mirapex, as well as some other non P.D. drugs.
Good luck,
Betty H.
