: : How many of my parky friends are thinking about having the implant )DBS) brain surgery? On the flip side, how many of you would not have the surgery? Any comments? Bruce

: Not only am I interested but I have had the procedure postponed 3 times. First two were FDA related, third delay not clear. I'd love to get this started since I was originally scheduled for it in March 2000, then July 2000, then Sept 12th, 2000. Apparently there's some underlying and unexplained concerns in regard to the first 25 patients, who received DBS. I was scheduled to have the procedure at Barrow Neurological Institute in AZ; where I live. In any case, I'm willing, ready, anxious, and able, provided I can get past the pre-procedure screening.
: FYI, I'm PWP about to turn 45, dxd in 95, been disabled for almost 2 years, and have exhausted all other meds. Don't even ask how much Sinemet I take daily!

Phil, Your situation looks exactly like mine. Ohio State is trying to get started doing the STN surgery, but they keep changing to a later date. One thing I don't understand is medicare will pay for the surgery in some states, but not in other states. The people at OSU did mention that they were having problems getting the procedure approved. Thanks to everyone who responded to my question. Bruce
