: : : : Does anyone know of a source that would tell me which states that medicare will pay for the STN surgery. I know we are told to just pick up the phone and call medicsre, but I have a feeling I would have a hard time describing the surgery to that "nameless" civil servant. The lady who takes the calls at Kansas University medical center told me the surgery is covered by medicare in that state. Will medicare cover the surgery in the state of Georgia?
: : : Bruce if Kansas covers the DBS under medicare, all states do.It is a Federal Medicare agency.Under Health care Financing Administration. Look on the internet.WWW.medicare.gov......Try it ,

: : Googy, sorry, but after placing a few phone calls, medicare policy does vary from state to state. Kansas University med. center has performed a lot of STN surgeries and is booked up to Jan. or Feb. of next year. I now know that Ohio and Georgia are still seeking FDA approval. Bruce
: I guess I'm the dumb bunny.I had no idea that states have there own policy. It makes no sense. Why dont you come here and stay with us.I hope that California has.I will find out !
I just went to my local support group today and one of the men had just had DBS-STN surgery done at UCLA. He said that they have done 55 of them there and that his insurance and Medicare paid for it. I didn't get to talk to him as much as I would have liked to. I'll try to get more information. But apparently Medicare is picking up the tab in California. Come on out Bruce!! Go west young man!!!
