: : Pete, I was just curious about where you are going to have the surgery and if medicare will pay for most of it. Good luck take care. PS: I am still waiting for the call to get an appointment. Bruce
: hello Bruce
: I will have the dbs at the University of Virguinia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. Dr Laws will do it as he did a pallidotomy for me in 1996.
: I doo not have an appt. either--they will call some time before the new year
: I think medicare will pay for most of it --it did pay for pallidotomy--eventually--
: I hope you get logged in soon -it is a little nerve-racking to play the waiting game so long.
: What symptom is the one that is giving you the most trouble? And, which one of thne procedures will you have?
: you take care--God bless you--I appreciate your writings-pete

Pete: thank you for answering my message. It looks like we are thinking along the same line, because it is unsettling not to have a definite date. I am hoping to find out something on Wed. when I call the nurse coordinator at Kansas University med. center. So far I usually get the answering machine and then have to wait a couple of days for her to return my call and then I am told she will get back to me next week. My worst problem is weak leg muscles and have poor equilibrium. So I started to use a walker and that helps alot. My neuro at Ohio State med. center recommended the DBS surgery on both sides at the STN site. Their evaluation takes 4-5 days and that will probably wear me out. I was also told it would be at least in January before I could have the surgery. I am truly blessed at having a good friend who is willing to transport me to just about anywhere whether it is snowing or not. It was good to hear from you Pete. Take care. Bruce
