Once nicotine reaches your brain, it interacts with receptors on your brain cells and causes the release of dopamine which helps regulate your moods and causes you to feel good. When someone suffers from depression, his or her's brain chemicals are out of balance. This explains why so many people who suffer from depression smoke Nicotine operates as a stimulent in low doses and a depressant in higher doses. The aspect of all mind altering drugs that make them so addicting is that they work, and they work everytime you use them. Nicotine is classified as a poison when medical treatment becomes necessary to treat an overdose of this drug. Nicotine in its purest form is lethal. If one drop of pure nicotine is placed on your skin, it would kill you. Some of the symptoms of nicotine overdose are convulsions, not breathing, abdominal cramps, vomiting, rapid pounding heartbeat, elavated blood pressure, depression. If you are a smoker, their are about 28 other carcinogens in cigarettes plus the companies have added ammonia and a compound that is the same as jet fuelto increase the absorbtion of nicotine making it more addictive and making someone a lifetime customer (a short life) Bruce
