: : When can a fetus be seen on an ultrasound and when can a heartbeat be detected?
: My midwife said that you hear the heartbeat after 12 weeks and my Dr. said around 17wks.
: You can see things a lot better on an ultrasound after 12 weeks and even better after 20. Its hard to wait that long but if you feel everything is okay its worth the wait to see a better picture and actually be able to tell what it is. My ultasound photos look like outerspace sitings.
: hope this helps
about 12 weeks is the normal waiting period for the first scan. but remember the foetus is only about 1.5inch at this stage. You might not hear the heart beat but you will see the little guy. Best of Luck.
