: I just recently (three weeks ago) began taking bcp for treatment of an ovarian cyst. I know that they do not protect against pregnancy until after at least one month. My husband and I had unprotected sex on my expected day of ovulation. My question is....should I be concerned about a potential pregnancy and stop taking the pills or just wait? I am not sure of the effects of bcp on the fetus within the first few weeks. Thanks for any help.

: A very similar thing happend to me and my husband. I was unknowingly pregnant and used 1 cycle of my BCP until I took a HPT and it was positive. I stopped the pill immediately and went to my doctor. He said everthing is fine though and 1 cycle on the pills will not harm the fetus. :)
