thinning cervix

I have a question. I went to the doctor on Wednesday due to some complications and after checking me, she said that I am not dilated, but that my cervix is fairly thin. Does that usually mean that labor will begin soon or could it take a while after my cervix thins to begin dilating? I am 30 weeks along. Please help if you can. Thank you!
