: I want to get a test done for toxoplasmosis but the doctor won't do one until your actually pregnant. (I'm trying) I don't think this is right. It's not like it would be a complete waist of time for the lab. Does anyone out there know what I can do? I have cats and am very concerned. I would like to know that if I have had this in the past I know it wouldnt be while I was pregnant and if I havent had it I could take the extra precations not to get it.
: I think if I want the test done the doctors should just give it to me.
: Please give me any input.
Hi! Sorry so late to post...but I also had cats and wanted to get the toxoplasmosis antibody titer done. Good thing I did because it turns out that I was not immune and was able to take precautions. If your ob/gyn won't order the test, go to a clinic and request it and state your reasons. It seems silly to me to have the test AFTER you become pregnant--this way you can take precautions (no cleaning the litter box, etc.).
