: : DO MOST DOCTORS PRESCRIBE PRENATALS. MY OB/GYN DIDN'T SO I JUST BUY THEM FROM A LOCAL HEALTH FOOD STORE. HOWEVER, MY MOM THOUGHT THIS WAS STRANGE BECAUSE I CAUSE SHE WAS ALWAYS PRESCRIBED THEM. THIS OF COURSE WAS YEARS AGO. DOES ANYONE KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? THANKS! : My doctor prescibed prenatal vitamins before I even became pregnant. As soon as I told him that we were going to start trying to have a baby he wanted me to start taking them. I agree with your mother. It seems a little odd that they were not prescribed to you. Ask your doctor. : My doctor did not prescribe them to me either when I told her we were going to start trying to conceive. She just told me to take Centrium once a day. I found out a few weeks ago that I was preganant and immediately bought some over the counter prenatal vitamins. I saw my doctor yesterday and told her I bought some over the counter and she didn't seem concerned enough to prescribe anything different. I think as long as you are taking some sort of a prenatal vitamin that is government approved you should be okay, at least that is what I have been told. Good Luck!
