Joanne,
You must be so worried. I know the panic that can set in, and it's horrible, I've been there.
When this happened to me I read everything I could get my hands on about what it could mean, and basically it seems that any spotting and cramping can mean, but does not necessarily mean, you are heading for a miscarriage.
Unfortunately all you can do is take it easy and make sure you get checked regularly.
However, if the pain gets severe I would insist on having another scan in case it's ectopic, but I'm sure your doctor will keep a good eye on you anyway.
The other cause, apparently, is that when your period would normally have been due (at around 6 and 10 weeks into a pregnancy), sometimes a bit of cramping and bleeding occurs, and everything will be OK.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Remember this does not necessarily mean anything bad is going to happen. Sadly, mine did. I miscarried at 13 weeks, just after I had had a routine scan which showed a developmental abnormality. I'm waiting for test results now to tell me what it was.
All I can say to you is that if you do miscarry, there are loads of people who will be there for you if you need it (including me!). It happened to me a month ago and for a short time I felt like the world had ended but, thanks to message boards like this plus supportive friends and family, I now realise that it happens to alot of people and you do get through it.
I actually feel stronger, and more knowledgeable now, so that if I can get pregnant again I will be more prepared for the whole experience.
I wish you all the best. I really do hope this works out for you.
love Lou.

Hi,
: This might be a little bit long but please read it I would really need your help.
: I'm pregnant. I believe I'm about six or seven weeks. Last sunday I discovered that I was bleeding.clear red blood. It stopped but came back the next day but stopped again. But then I started to have a brown discharge instead. Which I've been having ever since. A week now. It doesn't seem to be coming all the time but often. Sometimed it is thin and light brown and sometimes it is thicker and darkbrown. Sometimes almost black. I think I might have had some clots, but they were no bigger then peppercorns.
: I've also been having cramps. I've had these for maybe three or four weeks now. Which is why I first thought I was getting my period. The cramps aren't very severe. Kind of the way they are before I get my period. A few times they have been pretty sharp though. But not at all as bad as they are the first day of my period.
: I whent to the doctor last week and had blood tests and ultasound. The hcg level was 530. They said that my uterus looked empty but that this could be because the hcg level was so low.
: Does all these symtoms indicate that I'm having a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy? Isthere chance at all that everything could still be alright?
: Please help.
: Thank You. Joanne
